Nailz With Attitude!

Hello Ladies (and gents)! Here are some pics of one of the hottest new trends in the nail industry, the "edge" nail.

Here's how you do it:
You will need a form. A horseshoe shaped form will not work. You will need any form that is similiar to an Entity or OPI form.
Step 1 Do not take the form off of the backing paper
Step 2 Take the form and fold one side and crease it

Step 3 Fold the other side and crease it

Step 4 Fold directly down the center of the fold and crease it

Step 5 Take the form off of the paper backing

Step 6 Open the back part of the form that goes around the finger. Do not close it until you have the exact fit.
Step 7 Place the form PARTIALLY under the free edge of the natural nail. The form should NOT fit all the way under the natural nail but just the very TIP of the natural nail should sit on the form. If not, the ridge will not be very pronounced.

Once you have your form fitted correctly, you want to use the reverse method.
Step 8 Apply your pink to the nail bed. It helps to shape the pink with a cone like smile line versus a scoop because that shape will fit perfectly with the shape of the free edge.
Step 9 Apply acrylic to ONE side of the form directly on the slant. Shape and press the acrylic to come up to but not OVER the ridge in the middle. Swipe the tip of the free edge diagonally to a point.
Step 10 Repeat step 9 on the other side of the form. Make sure that your acrylic comes up to the very top of the "ridge" on the form. Once you complete step 10 the acrylic should "meet" at the ridge.
Step 11 Add mylar, moody or any embedding design media that you desire ( I used blueberry mylar on this nail.
Step 12 Cap in clear acrylic
Step 13 Be sure to file from cuticle to free edge on either side. Do not hold your file horizontally and file from side to side. You will remove the edge. Hold your file vertically facing the cuticle. The file should be on a slant as you are filing. File toward the free edge. Make sure that the side of the file closest to the ridge does not go over that ridge or it will flatten out. If you need to make your ridge a bit more defined, file from the side to the very edge of the ridge. Do not let the file go over it. Do the same on the other side.
Step 14 Add some hand painting, airbrush or whatever you like!

I will add a few more pics to demonstrate the filing technique. Have fun trying!
