Nailz With Attitude!

Hello to all New techs and Vets!! Rhonda I have some questions? When I airbrush painting nails what is the normal airbrush PSI that we supposed to use on the compressor? It was told to me to use it at 40 PSI but that's too much pressure for airbrushing nails " I think". What is the proper ratio to use when using or mixing windex with hot water to clean the gun? How and when to use white as foundation? Should I use white when using Neon colors and Opaque colors? Do you have any suggestions with Matellic colors as well!!! Rhonda come up with having a General FAQ area for us newbies in airbrushing LOL!! This would really help!!

Hi Jianni. I apologie that I had such a hard time finding this! I also admit that I didn't realize that YOU are Mrs. Fleming. I thought I had responded to all of "her" questions, LOL! Anyway, here are my recommendations:

You can use 40 PSI but I use about 30 or 35. When you mix the Windex with the water use about 1part hot water (as hot as possible) to 3 parts Windex. You basically use white as a foundation for EVERY color, ESPECIALLY neons (they look AWFUL if you don't). You can forgo using a white foundation with very pale colors like baby pink, sky blue and pastel yellow. Not a bright hot pink, or canary yellow but VERY pale pastel colors. These would be the type of colors that you would dress a newborn in. I don't have any Metallic colors anymore because they tend to be VERY watery. They can be difficult to work with. If you choose to try them, a brand called Dr. P.H. Martin's Airbrush paints has some nice colors. Thank you for the suggestion Jianni! I will do an airbrush FAQ corner. Thank you for showing so much interest!

This is very informative and it is very important to know the correct ratio of Windex and water. It very important to know every little detail especially with airbrushing. I definitely will hold off on metallic colors because I want to practice with my basics opaque colors. I will indeed keep this info with me because is very vital and strategic of knowing the important basics of airbrushing. This is what will help us beginners and vets have a longevity in the airbrushing world of Nails. Thanks Rhonda!!!
